After a standard installation has been completed you will find two new entries in the Start Menu under 'Start > All Programs > MySQL > MySQL Server 4.1'.

"MySQL Command Line Shell calls the MySQL command line shell and tries to connect as root user. You will be prompted for the password that you can set in the "Security Options" dialog in the Configuration Wizard. Please note that this only works for servers running on port 3306.

MySQL Server Instance Config Wizard will launch the Wizard. Use this option when you did not select to configure the server directly after the installation or to re-configure the server." (MySQL documentation).

Firewall protection is your front line of defense against Internet threats. eTrust EZ security software's default Zones and security levels give you immediate protection against the vast majority of threats. If you're an advanced user, custom port permissions and expert rules give you detailed control of traffic based on source, destination, port, protocol, and other factors.

      Topics:

      Understanding Firewall protection

      Choosing security levels

      Setting advanced security options

      Managing traffic sources

      Blocking and unblocking ports

      Understanding expert firewall rules

      -------------------------------------
      Adding custom ports (3306)
You can allow communication through additional ports at High security,
or block additional ports at Medium security by specifying individual port numbers or port ranges.

      To specify additional ports:

      Select Firewall|Main.

In either the Trusted Zone or Internet Zone area, click Custom.

The Custom Firewall settings dialog appears.

Scroll to the security level (High or Medium) to which you want to add ports.

Select the desired port type: incoming UDP, outgoing UDP, incoming TCP, or outgoing TCP.

Type the port or port ranges you want to allow or block in the Ports field, separated by commas.
      For example, 139, 200-300

      Click Apply, then click OK.
