(Management Department), St. Thomas University Professor & Metropolitan
State University Faculty, Earl has been a futurist & management consultant
since 1957. Earl has been chosen to be the World Futures Society's 2001
Annual Conference chair. The Wall Street Journal claims Earl was the first
in Corporate America to have the title of "Futurist," Business
Week claims he was one the first to use the phrase "smart machine"
and forecast that the central processing unit (CPU) of computers would
become a "bulge in the cable." He was a member of an early 1970's
team that initially studied and outlined the design of The Internet. He
convinced the Defense Department at a Naval Academy workshop to fund the
development of Very High Speed Large Scale Integration (VLSI/VHSI) circuit
chip technology that lead to today's chip advances.
The

College, a Community and Technical College, was formed in 1996 by
uniting Lakewood Community College and Northeast Metro Technical College.

Futurists has been meeting since 1968. Minnesota Futurists is the
oldest and largest chapter of the World Future Society. A newsletter,
Future Trends, and Futurics, a juried journal of futures research are

The
Minnesota
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force's mission is to educate
parents and children to the dangers of predators on the Internet and to
vigorously pursue those who would exploit children.
Their Three Rules of Online Safety for kids are:
- Never give out identifying information such as Name,
Home Address, School Name, or Telephone Number in a public message
such as at a chat room or on bulletin boards. Never send a person
a picture of you without first checking with your parent or guardian.
- Tell your parent, guardian or teacher right away if you
come across or are sent any information that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Never arrange a face to face meeting without telling your
parent or guardian. If your parent or guardian agree to the
meeting, make sure that you meet in a public place and have a
parent or guardian with you.
The
Business Continuity Planners Association
(BCPA), based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, is a non-profit, mutual benefit
association of business professionals responsible for, or participating
in, business recovery, crisis management, emergency management, contingency
planning, disaster preparedness planning, or a related professional vocation.
